hard lump on collarbone near shoulder
More...More...More...More...More...You're HereStep on the left bone of the neckSign up for postSign in for post9 posts since26 Nov 2018I'm a 27-year-old female and about 3 weeks ago I found a lump on my left collarbone. It's about the size of a tic touch, it's adorable and I think it's pretty soft? The more I touch it the harder it seems! I went to the doctors and didn't seem too worried because I had no other symptoms. He said it was just a puntiagud gland that came out because I had a cough at the beginning of the month. He told me to come back in 3 weeks. I came back after 2 with levels of anxiety across the roof. I stumply gummed the symptoms and read all the horror stories about the swollen lymph nodes on the neck bone always mean something bad... I think I could also feel another lump above and under the first, my cough also came back, however, it is not so bad (it was not the first time). He's examined my neck again and asked for a complete blood test, but not scans or anything. Is the blood test enough to determine if further evidence is needed? Or do I push a scan? In addition, can you touch a swollen gland make it swell more/make glands around it swollen as well? Apart from a massive anxiety about this and a little cough I feel good, going to the gym, etc. I've had a strange pain there and then but I'm not sure how much of it is anxiety and how much it can be a symptom. Did anyone out there have a similar situation? 9 posts since26 Nov 2018 And I would also like to add that in May I have had complete blood tests and apart from my iron levels being slightly low everything was fine. I have also been at the breast clinic at the same time with a lump and discharge of both nipples. They've never treated the discharge as they said if it's from both breasts, it's nothing sinister and a lump was a false alarm too. I've also had a full abdominal ultrasound analysis in May and that turned normal too. I'm not sure if that helps! 6 posts since25 Nov 2018 Hi, I'm dealing with something similar, I had some neck/rock pains and I started to feel around when I felt some lumpy schists on both sides of my collarbone actually on them not upstairs or below. I've taken a lot of blood with normal results. I'm going to look for Mri 2mo in the morning to find out what the pain is causing, no doctor seems interested in my blows. I hope you'll be fine. 9 posts since26 Nov 2018 Hello Greengirl, I hope it is soft and both sides is a good sign. I hope your analysis is going well today, let me know how you got in. I have my blood test on Thursday morning. It is frustrating that the doctor is not worried about something that the Internet is full of red flags. 6 posts since25 Nov 2018 Hello J1991 is frustrating when you feel something is wrong but everyone thinks you're dumb. Thank you. I went to look for my lord this morning was very good, it was very claustrophobic I felt I was there forever. I hope to get results by the end of the week. I hope you'll get well with blood and come fast. He's waiting and not knowing it's hard. I think we have to try to put faith in the doctors and stop doing the google. Googling's driving me crazy. 4 posts from10 Nov 2018Hi J1991 :) I'm sorry to hear what you're going on! It can be so scary, right? I found a similar bump right above my left collarbone a few months ago. At first I thought maybe I was imagining it, but it's definitely there. I used to work in health and remember that you always treat inflammation of the lymph nodes of the collarbone as 'abnormal' until proven otherwise. One thing that should calm you (expectedly) is; 1. Very rarely is actually a sign of metastatic cancer (a recent study found 25% in less than 40 and only 54% in more than 40s) so the odds are on your side.2. There are a million reasons why you can get inflammation of isolated lymph nodes but mutilation with it will usually make it worse. While a blood test may not tell the full story if you return to the armed doctor with that information and with your low iron levels, perhaps I should push them to look further. Sometimes your mind plays horrible tricks when you find these things, you start to feel symptoms you never have before! Staying positive, it is very unlikely that it will be something serious that you have an appointment for me in a few weeks, I imagine you will investigate it and then it won't come much from it! 9 posts since26 Nov 2018Hello WC09990, Thank you so much for this, you felt a little better. I'm sorry to hear you're going through something similar, though it looks like you're a little more relaxed, how do you do it? What makes me uncertain is the fact that I wasn't worried about the fact that the lump is above the neck bone, but of my own research and what you just said that his position is worrying. I'm going crazy touching my neck and I think I'm still finding more lumps. And get more symptoms. Let's hope everything's in my head, like you said. I hope your lump turns out to be nothing, please keep me informed about how it's taking place with your appointments x 6 posts since25 Nov 2018 Hello Hun, I had my mri tue morning, I was called yesterday as "they found something" and I needed to see an oncologist. I got to the hospital ready for the worst. Turns out my nerves at the top of my column are compressed, could be damaged or from birth, which is causing my pain. I was so relieved, sorry as a nurse means that the neurologist is not oncologist! I mentioned my lumps and he said they're nothing and they showed nothing in mri, the clavicle is just fatty deposits. He said because I am anxious that my symptoms are increased and feel ten times worse. Although I still have this pain, I'm so big that it wasn't what I thought. Il never forget that day while I live. I hope you're okay. 40 posts since12 Nov 2018 I can't believe they said oncologist instead of neurologist. I figured it was a mistake, but that poor nurse must have felt awful. Anyway, let's focus on good things, it was great news for you 9 posts since26 Nov 2018 Oh my days! Bless you, it must have been horrible. I'm glad you're okay, now you can breathe. I feel worse but I think it's anxiety more than actual symptoms, it's stressed for days, I probably wouldn't feel anything about it if I hadn't done it first. I had my blood test this morning. They said it takes about a week so you'll see the doctor on Wednesday (he had this appointment booked for a checkup anyway). The Fingers crossed will be fine. 6 posts since25 Nov 2018 It was not the best day, but as lemonacy said focus on good. I was so relieved. I'm sure everything will be fine, and it's just your lymph node doing your job. You just need security. If you could get a private mri just for a piece of mind xx9 posts since26 Nov 2018 Hey, so I thought I would publish a small update... my blood results became clear, what I guess is good news? When I asked him about a scan he said the gland is too small to do a scan on it and it's not worried. He said the gland is for my cough and I can feel it more because I'm thin. She gave me a reference for a chest to calm me down. I still don't worry completely, but I think I'll go get a chest scanner and if that makes it clear, then I only have one eye on the package. 34 posts since7 Oct 2018 Hello, I hope everything is okay. I wanted to know what the result was with the lump-size tic tac in the left collarbone. I have similar items and I am very anxious9 since26 Nov 2018 Hey, everything was clear, thanks. My chest scanners were clear, a year is still there, it's not changing and I'm healthy. Of course, go check it out, my doctor told me if it were something sinister, it would be getting bigger. I hope everything goes well xx1 posts since7 Mar 2020I am 14 years old and play rugby, I am healthy but recently my neck bone has been hurting and I felt it and it seems that I have a small bundle that is mobile, this is worrying and I have been reading and I don't think it's lymph nodes or anything I think it's just red cell buildup but I'm not sure. Please, if there's someone who can help answer. Recent Debates in Expect a DiagnosisSpeak to a Nurse Quick Links Follow Us
